This afternoon I checked my email. A message from Anne! She had just finished a painting. I jumped in the car and zoomed across the park to see. Lucky me.
On My Desk
I was so excited to receive an ARC today! (Had to look it up. ARC stands for Advance Reviewer Copy.) And I printed out the whole book on 12" x 18" paper so Lucille can read it. I cleaned my print head three times; looks like I may be needing a new printer soon (?)
Art Market San Francisco
I loved spending time with my friend Anne at her booth this past weekend.
Below: two booths away from Anne's:
One of the best things about Art Market was its location: Fort Mason. When you turned into a zombie, overwhelmed with the art and the crowd, you could go up to the lounge, have a drink, and look out the window.
When I got home, I slogged along the Coastal Trail...
and cut out my latest newspaper poster and hung it in my kitchen.
Thank You, Kate DiCamillo
Hearing you read from Because of Winn-Dixie and talk about Flora and Ulysses was what I desperately needed! And thank you, Book Passage, for bringing Kate here.

The Little Gallery That Could (And Did)
As well as being fortunate enough to write and illustrate children's books, I'm privileged to work for my friend Anne's art gallery. She started this tiny gallery called FOG on the outer edge of San Francisco in 2015.
A few months ago Anne applied to be in Art Market San Francisco, and she got in! FOG will be exhibiting among other galleries from around the world: London, Vancouver, New York, Tokyo, Paris, Seoul– as well as other big Bay Area galleries. Visit us at booth #523, near the café!
Most Popular Patient
Lucille, my 94-year-old pal who walks to the Y every morning, and then walks three miles after lunch, GOT HIT BY A CAR last week. That's Lucille's daughter Lauren on the far right.
