The Real Book

I got my advance copy today. Not proofs, not F&G's – the real thing. I love the way it turned out. The book will be released February 28, 2017. My favorite spread is below:

I was so happy. We had drinks and snacks with friends. But Oops. BAD eating, Linda!  Some advice: Think before ordering that second or third martini. Also, when you order a big bowl of fried calamari and a cheese plate for the table, don't scarf down the whole bowl of calamari while everyone else is admiring the view.

When my super-agent Rubin got his advance copy, he sent me this photo. Isn't it beautiful?

WIP

The second sketch for the back and front cover of my Mimi book is above. My co-workers gently reminded me that since the story takes place in winter, maybe the colors should reflect that. (The sketch below was from the first batch of sketches––Oops! I guess they have a point.)

Walking down the Great Highway at 5:30 pm.  Doesn't the Camera Obscura look like a toy?

Work in Progress

Often when I'm working on a project I'll send a PDF to my sister Aggles for feedback. She does not mince words, and that's a good thing. Here's what she said when I sent her the initial cover sketch (above). I mentioned to her that the past few days had been kind of dreary, and that's why she added the Bible verse.

On/Off

See What Is In the Stars     acrylic on canvas, googly eye, Christmas LED's     8" x 8"

A painting I made for Anne that turns on and off.

All wrapped up.

We actually walked three miles in this weather. (That's the Coastal Trail in case you can't make it out.) When I got home my clothes were soaking wet, but I was stunned to find that my socks were dry––my waterproof Salomons actually worked. I've had them a year and have never had a chance to test them due to lack of rain.

Silly sketch for a POSSIBLE NEW BOOK illustration job. (Book not written by me, but loved by me.) Fingers crossed.

Peter gave us a big bouquet of flowers! Our space is so tiny that we divided it up into multiple mini's.

Art of the Week: Does anyone else cut apart the Sunday paper and tape pieces of it up in the kitchen?
